Korean films in the second half of 2010 are finally revealed both commercial and aesthetic challenges in diverse elements and genres. They include IM Kwon-taek, HONG Sangsoo, KIM Jee-woon, RYU Seung-wan, LEE Hai-young, and PARK Jeong-hoon; from great masters delivering introspection of life, sensible stylists wallowing genres, to surprising newcomers exploring colorful pleasure.

The works of IM Kwon-taek that continued for the last 50 years are as unique as they are an exploration on the vast domain regarding the minds of Koreans and directionality of Korean cinema, and at the same time are studies of personal history. In Korea today, there is no one like IM Kwon-taek who can explain the colors of an artist that only build up with the passage of time.

On June 11, the long awaited first store of CGV cinema opened its doors at ‘Madang’, a Los Angeles Koreatown shopping mall with three 600-seat screens. Greg PARK, president of CJ Entertainment America, tells us the significance of CGV’s first branch in America, and the current status of his company in the US market.
